This public health initiative is forged in the intent to

  • increase access and equal affordability to culturally-competent and culturally-sensitive care
  • address present gaps in mental health that contribute to public health risk to creatively mitigate this risk
  • foster collaboration and integration of foreign practitioners with Swiss practitioners to strengthen the offering and collective knowledge of the region
  • challenge stigma with increased visibility and normalization of public exposure to mental health topics, narratives and public education.

What are the advantages of the Mental Health Initiative (MHI) Registry?

Benefits for the public
Via MHI website, the public can quickly see which mental health supports are in the region with a wide-variety of providers, searchable through various areas of interest and personal preferences. For the purpose of providing the most thorough support, mental health supports are defined as broadly as possible to meet the diverse needs and cultural expectations of the community.

Benefits for providers
  • Helping the public find your services.
  • In particular if you do not have your own website, you can easily present your specialist areas of expertise. This way, interested parties can get an idea of you and others can recommend you. Just search for your "first name last name city" and you will most likely find MHI (if listed) on the first page on Google.
  • Help local providers and agencies to know more about your knowledge and experience to contribute to public interest projects about mental health in the community.
Benefits for agencies, associations and specialist groups
  • Associations and expert groups can register their group on MHI and receive a page in their own "look and feel" (a so-called "white label page"). For the visitor of the "white label page" it looks like a page of your association.
  • Your advantage: You create more access and transparency toward accessing your services to the community.
Who originated MHI?

The idea came about through the exchange between psychologist, Dr. Brandi Eijsermans, the LiLi Centre and FABIA. MHI is operated through FABIA with a collaboration of volunteers from SiVO. Dr. Eijsermans receives no financial benefits or other benefits from MHI or FABIA.

How is MHI financed?

Currently, MHI is seeking collaborations and partnerships to secure sustainable funding. If your agency or organization is interested contact us.

How much does the Mental Health Initiative search cost for the providers listed?

All contact information and free text content are and remain free. This is our contribution to improving the search for mental health supports in the community.

Can I advertise on the front page?

There is no advertisement on the MHI front page. That should remain so. We put the logos on the front page in our own estimation and as added value for portal visitors and for the displayed partners. We receive no consideration for this.

I do not accept new clients. Should I still register for MHI?

Yes, sign up for the following reasons:

  • Set your availability to “not currently accepting clients.” So you will be listed far back in the search results and not unnecessarily contacted by patients and colleagues. That helps everyone.
  • Even existing patients often search the Internet for the phone number or email address of their doctor, as our analyzes show. With the profile page on Doc24 you will be found quickly. In addition, you can also send emails - if you have activated this - without your email address being shown.
  • More than one in ten accesses now happens from mobile devices. Your Doc24 profile page is optimally displayed on mobile devices.
I registered myself on the MHI registry. Why does my entry not appear in the result list?

We release each self-registration only after prior examination. Usually your entry will be activated within 24 hours.

Why is my email address on the profile page not displayed in clear text, but only as a link?
  • We indicate the e-mail address as a link, because many therapists also use the private e-mail address, which should therefore only be known to known persons. Advantage of the link: For serious inquiries about Doc24, therapists can then reply with their mail address.
  • Almost more important: Mail addresses that appear in clear text on the Internet (whether on websites or in PDFs) can be read by programs (so-called "crawlers") that build SPAM databases. Due to the technical structure of Doc24, your e-mail address is protected from it.
